Quick update: Month of Shopping

I did a little trip to New York. You know, just to make sure that its still there :D Of course I could not avoid shopping at two of my favorite stores in the world: Victoria's Secret and Sephora.

Oh what amazing stuff they have. I just absolutely love these stores and there was noway that I could have resisted them. I will spare you from boring pictures of cute little undies and bras. However I got some really cool stuff.

From Sephora I got the Lancôme Dual Finish compact powder (since I forgot my powder back home, I obviously was compelled to buy a new one :D), the amazing Kat Von D liquid eyeliner (review coming later) and Soap & Glory's Fab Pore Hot Cloth Cleanser (review coming later).

Victoria's Secret wooed me over with its glosses and fragrance mists.

I have never tried the VS Fantasies products before and was a bit sceptic about them, however was pleasantly surprised. The mists are light and pleasant fragrances that can be even worn every day. I usually find that normal perfumes are way too strong for daytime wear and prefer slightly lighter scented products.

I got the Such A Flirt (starfruit and white orchid), Love Spell (cherry blossom and peach) and Simply Breathless (freesia and mandarin).

What do you think? Do you have any VS Fantasies products?

Back to Lancôme

My previous foundation ran out and I was looking for something new. Instead of picking something new, I went to back to my old favorite Lancôme Teint Miracle.

I have been really disappointed with my previous foundation and I felt I needed something that I knew that would work. Teint Miracle has served me well. There is nothing particularly amazing about it, it just works. It is light, spreads really nicely and does not clog your pores. It is not super thick, which I really like about it, however it does cover any imperfections and makes your skin smooth and glamourous. I have absolutely nothing bad to say about it.

Also got the Lancôme loose poweder. I have never used loose powder before, been a compact powder girl for all my life. So it was a bit difficult at first since I had no clue what I was doing. But I think I got the hang of it in the end. The important factor is to have a really fluffy brush and gently brush the powder all over your face. As a pleasant surprise I found that loose powder really sets your make up on and makes it last longer.

Do you prefer loose powder or compact powder? Or do you use both?

Big and Bold

Currently, my favorite mascara is IsaDora's Big and Bold Mascara. First time I heard about this was actually through Virve's blog. I was looking for a new mascara and when I read about the Big Bold Mascara I just had to tried it out.

I absolutely fell in love with it. With only few strokes you can get almost false lash like an effect. It gives you longer and fuller looking lashes. It is truly super volumizing.

The brush itself is very big. Now, if you're not used to thick and big brushes you might need some practice in order to avoid mascara smudges. A good way to avoid smudging is by using the business card trick

The only problem with the mascara is that it's actually kinda hard to wash off. Even when you think you washed it properly you, wake up the next morning with dark circles around your eyes. But with a proper use of a good make up remover you should be just fine.

My life before the Big Bold was all about Lancôme's Hypnôse Doll Eyes Mascara.

The cone shape of the brush gives you that cute lash fringe on your outer corner. It gives you clean application. With it it's easy to define even the little hard to reach corners on your eyes. Oh and it smells like roses (smell which always made my mornings a little bit more special :)). Unfortunately I ran out of this baby long time ago and found love in other places. But I would definitely recommend this mascara as well. Who knows, when I am in need for a good mascara, I might go back to my trusty Hypnôse :)

In Love with Rouge in Love

Lately I have been fascinated with lipsticks. I just cannot go outside of the house without adding just a little bit of lipstick (okay little bit of an overstatement, if I am just taking the trash out etc. I do not feel compelled to put lipstick on :D). I have been especially fascinated with Lancôme's Rouge in Love series.

I have two shades 353 M Roses in Love and 322 M Corals in love.

The shades of Rouge in Love series are categorized in three different moods:
  • Jolis Matins, which are daytime shades.
  • Boudoir Time, which are more evening shades.
  • Tonight is My Night, which are more intense colors for those, well you know, special moments.

Both of my shades are daytime colors, even though Roses in Love shade is quite intense and dark color for daytime.

Roses in Love is shiny, intense red shade. Coral in Love is more of a coral, orange shade.

The thing that I most fell in love with these lipsticks is the fact that they are so long lasting. According to Lancôme website they can last up to 6 hours. They also do not feel sticky or heavy at all.

The price of these babies is quite steep compared to "drugstore brands". But in my opinion lipstick is something that one should splurge on. You can really notice a difference between cheap and expensive lipstick compared to for example mascaras. Cheap mascaras are, in my opinion, as good as more expensive ones. There are really only minor differences. So my tip for life: indulge yourself with lipsticks, save on everything else :D
